APTransco MD to attend US seminar

Rachel Chatterjee, APTransco chairperson and managing director, will take part in an international convention, organised by Stanford University, in the US from June 3 to 5. The convention is on "Adopting Latest Technologies -Experiences In Power Sector."

She has been deputed by the State Government to take part in it. Andhra Pradesh is the only State invited.

Chatterjee will give a presentation on the power sector of Andhra Pradesh. Her presentation would cover reduction of transmission and distribution losses, successful implementation of free power to all eligible farmers (about 95 percent of total farmers in the State) and thus helping 21 lakh farmer families, waiver of arrears of power tariff to the tune of Rs 1254 crore for farmers and supplying more reliable and quality power to the industrial sector by segregating industrial feeders for industrial promotion and employment generation.

APTransco achieved the CRISIL rating for its performance in 2004-2005. Transmission and distribution losses were brought down from 23.15 percent in 2003-2004 to 21.5 percent in 2004-2005, according to a statement.
