Ascendas launches India IT park fund

Leading Asian property developer Ascendas Pte. Ltd. said on Thursday it had launched a 10-billion-rupee Indian technology parks fund, backed by two of its existing properties, and aimed to double the fund's size.

"Ascendas is injecting two choice assets -- the International Tech park, Bangalore, which it lead-developed, and the Vanenburg IT Park (Hyderabad), which was acquired recently," it said in a statement.

The group's Ascendas Real Estate Investment Trust is Singapore's second-biggest listed property trust. As a sponsor of the trust, Ascendas holds a 30 percent interest in the Indian technology parks fund, the statement said.

A company spokeswoman said 10 billion rupees were already in place in the fund and the doubling of size was an eventual target. The fund has been constituted in Singapore as a private trust, and has a term of seven years.
