Beautification of Musi river begins

Preliminary work on the Musi river beautification project took off on Wednesday with the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) Commissioner, Sanjay Jaju, deciding to shift the garbage transfer station located at Imliban and also directing officials to complete the development park there.

Mr. Jaju and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) Managing Director, Jawahar Reddy, conducted a joint inspection of the area coming under the proposed heritage precinct - Puranapul to Chaderghat stretch up to four kilometres, and reviewed the immediate steps to be taken.

These include clean up drive of the riverbed, restoration and repair of the existing old bridges, removing encroachments and fresh carpeting of the abutting road. On its part, the HMWSSB would start calling for tenders on laying the intercepting sewer lines to prevent sewerage from flowing into the river. These lines are to be linked to the proposed sewerage treatment plants.
