Monsoon sets in

The South-West monsoon set in over the State on Wednesday, late by three days. The normal date of monsoon arrival in the State is June 5. On the first day, the monsoon advanced into the areas up to Anantapur and Kavali from the South, covering parts of Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra. The State Met Office Director, G. Sudhakar Rao, said it might take four to five days to cover the entire State.

The monsoon advent brought cheers to several areas of the State, some of which are still in the grip of heat wave in the Telangana region. Koyalkuntla recorded a rainfall of 3 cm and Anantapur, Nandyal and Atmakur 1 cm each.
