24th International Tourism Exhibition

24th International Tourism Exhibition of India opened on Saturday in Hyderabad.

The event in which five countries including Indonesia, Sri Lanka, UAE and Iran are participating, was inaugurated by the Consular General of the Islamic Republic of Iran at Hyderabad Hossein Soroush.

In his inaugural speech Soroush hoped that such exhibitions would enhance and develop a better communication and cooperation in the field of tourism between Iran and other countries, specially India.

While emphasizing the attractive economic growth in Iran and India, he said this exhibition is a good base to discover commercial and tourism opportunities for both countries.

Eighty five international enterprises from across the world including Europe and Iran are taking part in this three-day exhibition alongside a number of European agents and companies from fourteen Indian States.

International Tourism Exhibition of India was first organized in 1998, which is yearly held in five cities of Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai and Pune.

According to the data available 3.537 million foreign tourists visited India during the year 2004-05, which shows a 22.9 percent increase compared to the previous year.

Given Reserve Bank of India's report, with 5.3 billion Indian Rupees increase in revenue from foreign exchange received, the total revenue of India in tourism sector amounted to 234.5 billion Rupees, which in comparison to the previous year shows a 30 percent increase.
