Apollo, Stanford team up

Apollo Hospitals in association with the Stanford Emergency Medicine International, US, is launching the first-ever international training programme for emergency medical technicians in India. Candidates who have passed Intermediate or an equivalent examination are eligible to enroll for this one-year full-time programme to be conducted at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad.

Apollo Hospitals, in a statement here Saturday, said the course would commence from Jan 10, 2006. Faculty deputed from Stanford Emergency Medicine International, US and Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, will conduct the year-long course leading to the qualifying examination. Emergency Medicine, particularly pre-hospital emergency care is rapidly growing in the country and the need for trained and qualified personnel is immense.

Without structured training programmes, availability of manpower to operate quality emergency medical systems is virtually non-existent.
