Electronic Arts Buys Jamdat

Electronic Arts Inc, the world's leading interactive entertainment software company, and JAMDAT Mobile Inc, a global publisher of wireless entertainment applications, including games, ring tones, images and other content, announced they have entered into a definitive merger agreement under which EA will acquire JAMDAT.

EA, headquartered in Redwood City, California, will pay $27 per share in cash in exchange for each share of JAMDAT common stock and assume outstanding stock options for a total of approximately $680 million.

Headquartered in Los Angeles, JAMDAT has roughly 350 employees in locations around the world, including Honolulu, Montreal, Tokyo, London, Bucharest and Hyderabad. It publishes games like Bowling, Tetris®, Downtown Texas Hold 'Em, Lemonade Tycoon®, Bejeweled®, The Lord of the Rings®, Tony Hawk's® Underground and Scrabble® .
