Consultants for Hyderabad Metro hired

The state government has hired the services of a consultant for Rs 1.45 crore for its Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) project in the city.

The consultant will assist in the selection of developers through a competitive bidding process and evaluate the technologies proposed by the developers.

New Delhi-based Span teamed up with Semaly of France to clinch the deal. Three more consultants were in the fray. While Span and Semaly consortia quoted Rs 1.45 crore, other bidders - P B and Wilbur Smith and Crisil quoted Rs 2.99 crore, RITES and Systro and E&Y quoted Rs 3.31 crore and PCCE quoted Rs 11.94 crore. As the state government cannot hire many experts, it hires consultants, said officials. It is the latter that hires experts or forms a consortia with a panel of experts to provide technical advice during a major project.

The government requires the services of various technical hands including experts in the field of Build, Operate and Transfer works, financial analysts, legal, signalling, real estate, social and environmental specialists, structural engineers and others at various stages. The consultant will assist in the selection of developers through a competitive bidding process and evaluate the technologies proposed by the developers.


It will also prepare a suitable financial model and ascertain the real estate potential of the land being offered and help the government in preparing an implementation plan.
