Satyam to promote soft skills in colleges

Satyam Computers has taken up a project on an experimental basis to promote soft skills in five engineering colleges of the State, as most of the engineering graduates are lacking in communication skills, according to Mr Sudheer Mareddi, Vice-President (Operations).

Mr Sudheer, who was here on Monday to participate in a technical seminar organised by the Avanti Institute of Engineering and Technology, said some of the teachers of Avanti and four other colleges in the State would be imparted training in soft skills at Satyam campus in Hyderabad.

Depending on the response, the company would extend it to other colleges. He said that most of the engineering graduates emerging out of the colleges, especially from the rural areas, were finding it difficult to adapt to the work environment in a software company, as they could not articulate well .

"Though they have the necessary theoretical knowledge and technical skills, this is proving to be a hassle. Therefore, we have taken up the scheme," he explained.
