IT corridor gets sewage masterplan

HMWSSB has evolved a Rs 200 crore master plan to provide underground sewage network to the entire Serilingampally municipality. The plan covering the total 42 sq.km area of the civic body will be executed in two years.

There is a greater need for the underground sewerage system in the municipality as Serilingampally has become a IT hub. Many star hotels, townships, commercial complexes and malls are coming up in and around Serilingampally.

The State Government will bear 15 per cent of the total project cost of Rs 200 crore. The Centre will provide 35 per cent of funds for the project under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).

The remaining 50 per cent of project cost will be shared by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC), Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and Serilingampally municipality. The APIIC and the municipality have already deposited Rs 10 crore and Rs 1 crore respectively for execution of the project.

HMWS&SB Director (Projects) Goutham Reddy said tenders for the project would be invited soon. Seven sewage treatment plants (STPs) with a total capacity of 57 mld would also be set up at different places in the town as part of the master plan. The STPs would be set up at Gachibowli (7 mld), Miyapur and BHEL (15 mld each), Beverly Hills (5 mld), Kondapur (6 mld), Gopannapally and Nanakramguda (4.5 mld each), he said.

The construction activity in the town is likely to witness a boom in the coming months with the Cyberabad Development Authority (CDA) delegating powers to issue building permissions to Serilingampally municipality.

The Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Department issued GO Ms 94 last week empowering Serilingampally municipality to issue building permissions for ground plus two structures having less than 1,000 sq.mt area.
