Growth corridor to be cleared
Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (Huda) will soon go for another massive land acquisition for developing hierarchical road network on either side of the Outer Ring Road (ORR).
The state government is likely to clear the growth corridor file by the end of this month. Huda officials said implementation of the growth corridor was a must to promote planned development and curb haphazard growth along the 162 km Outer Ring Road.
Huda says land losers will be given alternate land and compensation as per the revenue and rehabilitation package.
It is estimated that over 80,000 acres of land falling under 113 villages will come under the growth corridor rules in Hyderabad. As per the rules, land owners have to take permissions before taking up any construction activity.
Areas in the core city were not developed properly, a senior official of Huda said. So, we don’t allow such haphazard development along ORR since it will defeat the purpose project. The special development regulations will come into force with fresh orders, he added.
Huda officials sought public opinion on the issue in April-May 2007 and submitted a detailed report to the Municipal Administration department. The officials hope that there will not be much resentment among the land owners. Huda will seek final objections from the public once the government okays the proposal.

I am from Hyderabad, It is really sad HUDA again want to steal land from people. they auction there land for great prices and there compensation/rehab package is nothign peanuts compared to there way of selling.
people are going to get killed with this plan no matter what….
Why can’t they put rules instead of grabbing the land from land owners. there are thousand of people who bought those lands using there very hard earned money.
Congress is inventing schemes every day. i always vote congress but in recent years there is so much corruption in there administration.
one time they said the plot size must be atleast 1200 sq. yards. now they are coming up with whole new plan grabbing 80000 acress along 164 kms.
they have the nerve to think there won’t be much resentment from land owners for this proposal…..
there will be.
This is very sad. HUDA again displayed it’s inability to provide equitable justice to people living arround Hyderabad. Why should local people loose their land so that people from far away places can zip through their homes and lands? Why should we move to make bada babus rich. HUDA is just another real estate agency with authority.
I hope, dumb struck transportation experts in the city can open their mouths and explain why an already proposed 6 lane highway is enough to smothly allow traffic.
We paid almost 1.6 crores for each acre, whole family contributed for buying this land and now. Huda want to grab it for there benefit. why can’t they propose the rules. and give access points to get onto outer ring road for every 1/2 KM or so.
That way they can avaoid ribbon development.
Today that land is worth more than 2.25 crores per acre. If Huda want to pay that no problem then.
